About SMC

The goal of Social Media Club Columbia is to provide a community resource for connecting, networking, and educating others about social media. As more and more businesses begin social media initiatives, having our group as a resource establishes Columbia as a hub for social media, and creates opportunities for members to better assist organizations with their needs.

The Backstory

Chris Heuer and Kristie Wells started Social Media Club (SMC) in March 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA (USA) to help people find all the relevant communities of interest in which they want to participate. Social Media Club Columbia is a chapter of their organization.

Hmmmm, get what? Well, the simple explanation of our tag line is that if you understand social media, share your understanding with others. Don’t just horde it all to yourself as if we still lived in a world where keeping knowledge within a given SILO was the smart thing to do. Help yourself grow your reputation, your influence and your expertise by sharing what you know with others.
