With summer schedules galore, in lieu of a June meeting, Social Media Club Columbia is encouraging its members to attend ConvergeSC, a one-day Web conference on Saturday, June 27 at Amoco Hall inside the Swearingen Engineering Center (301 Main St.) at USC in Columbia.
At ConvergeSC, designers, developers, content creators, business and marketing professionals, and students can gain insight into all aspects of the Web industry from some of the best and brightest the Carolinas have to offer. Whether you’re a seasoned Internet expert or a newcomer to the Web, you’re sure to discover something that will spark your creativity and get you motivated.
The conference includes several talks that may interest SMCC members, including a presentation on creating brand ambassador movements online from Geno Church of Brains on Fire in Greenville; a discussion of content by Jessica Cook, Social Media Club Columbia Steering Committee Member; and a talk on marketing socially from Robyn Tippins, Community Manager at Yahoo! Developer Network. Other presentations throughout the day will cover topics like taking your Web design from decent to great, starting a business, creating interactive experiences online, designing across multiple media, and developing using Ruby on Rails.
We encourage all interested SMC Columbia members to attend this first-annual event as it’s sure to be a day full of learning and inspiration for anyone interested in the Web.

Social Media Club will be back in July.
