1) How do you define social media?
Social media is about connecting people, so it must provide a way to share and exchange information and thoughts and provide a context to be acquaintences or friends. It’s like a huge virtual party where you can go from conversaton to converation. Some are deep conversations, come are shallow.
2) Which social media tools or applications do you use, and why these in particular?
I use Facebook- predominantly for personal matters and Social Media Club, I use Twitter and Linked in for professional links, Plaxo to a lesser degree.
3) With increasingly busy schedules, Where do you find time for social media?
Being addicted helps. You find time for what is important, and if it produces result.
4) What advice would you give to local businesses wishing to effectively embrace social media?
Just like a conversation- it’s not all about YOU. people gravitate away from people always shoving something and gravitate to people who provide value and humor.
5) Where do you see the future of social media?
It’s a novelty now, it will be essential in a few years.It is already an integral part of any business that involves people- which is most of the businesses open today.
